Rise of Tiamat Session 4

This “Rise of Tiamat” episode begins with a player headcount and a recap of the previous session's tomb exploration, including battles with devils and a golem, and the acquisition of magical items. The party strategizes about the remaining areas: a southern door, large double doors, and the well with trolls and a divination pool, ultimately deciding to avoid the pool.

Opening the southern door reveals a short hallway. They then cautiously open the large double doors to find a chamber with a massive sarcophagus. A voice, identifying itself as Dieterus, informs them that the Yuan-ti have taken Varram through a portal in the north wall, which then opens.

Preparing for danger, they drink from the urn for poison resistance and equip a ring of poison resistance. They enter the tunnel and are ambushed by Yuan-ti on a bridge spanning a deep pit. A significant combat ensues, featuring javelins, clubs, and spells like suggestion and fear. Wog is affected by fear and flees, but the party eventually defeats the Yuan-ti.

They discover young Yuan-ti brood and, after a brief moral debate, decide to spare them. Continuing, they encounter helmed horrors, leading to another challenging combat due to the creatures' resilience and immunities. The party prevails, discovering rubies and baby snakes.

The session concludes with discussions about leveling up, Cheshire's high movement speed, and the announcement of a week-long delay for the next session.
