The session begins with the players encountering technical difficulties with Fantasy Grounds, resolving issues with dice colors and portraits. The Game Master (GMWintermute) sets the scene in the prosperous Kingdom of Aglerod, ruled by King Waldrum. The adventure starts in the capital city, focusing on the Lucky Leap Tavern.
The GM introduces the player characters (PCs):
- Bergen Bimble Opperson (Beer): Deep gnome wizard, quiet and studious.
- Quick Strange Claw: Furry rat-man sorcerer, evasive about his past but friendly.
- Samara: Anime cat girl urchin, stoic but enthusiastic.
- Nora: Young woman disguised in dowdy clothing, Red Cloak, not quiet and lacks social graces.
- Anton: Massive, well-spoken, and impeccably dressed food critic.
At the Lucky Leap Tavern, the PCs learn about a game involving jumping from the doorstep for free drinks. Several PCs attempt the jump with varying success. Anton, despite his size, makes a significant jump, earning drinks and shaking the tavern.
The party witnesses Raffle, a halfling, negotiating the sale of a supposed Celestial feather to Lord Monder for 535 gold pieces. A bugbear interrupts, destroying the feather in a fire while demanding 200 gold for a gambling debt.
Quick and Nora approach Raffle, who reveals his grandmother has an identical feather. He proposes they help him convince her to sell it, then sell it to Lord Monder, splitting the profit. The party agrees and goes to his grandmother's house. Granny agrees to sell the feather for 250 gold pieces, which Quick funds.
On the way to Lord Monder's villa, Bergen detects magic on the feather. Raffle attempts to flee, but Quick and Nora subdue him, with Nora using a hold person spell, and Anton assisting. Raffle confesses the scheme was a con.
Two Red Cloak law givers arrive, witnessing Quick holding a knife to Raffle. The PCs explain Raffle stole their money with a fake magical feather. The law givers take Raffle into custody, suggesting the party visit their headquarters.
At the Hall of the Law Givers, Quick produces the feather, revealed to be a common parrot feather. The party mentions Lord Monder's supposed involvement, surprising the law givers.
The party seeks out the real Lord Monder, who denies involvement and suspects the Golden Mask criminal organization. Lord Monder offers the party a job: retrieving his prized horse for the King's Games parade. The session ends with the party considering this offer.
